Is trail running about maintaining a healthy physique? Or following a trendy fashion? The answer isn’t fixed. But for trail runner A Liang, it holds another meaning – it’s a way of life.
During the second "Scientific Warm-Up Run" training session of "Challenge 8 Hours" on the 24th of this month, A Liang once again served as our coach, leading participants to experience the joy of running in advance. We also conducted an exclusive interview with this trail runner with a legendary background.
A Liang, whose real name is Yang Jianguo, is an IT professional. He not only excels in his work but has also achieved remarkable success in marathon and trail running. Over the past decade, A Liang has used his spare time and personal funds to participate in dozens of marathons. Among them, he takes the most pride in last year’s 330-kilometer "Tor des Géants" (Race of the Giants) in Italy, one of the three Chinese participants who completed the entire course. This achievement helped him establish a unique position in the industry. However, behind the impressive results lie untold hardships. A long scar on Coach A Liang’s left leg leaves a deep impression on many. It is said that the scar was caused by excessive training during his second year of junior high, which led to a muscle strain and, under severe impact, a fracture in his left leg. Fortunately, due to his young age at the time, he recovered quickly, and the injury no longer affects his running training today. We are moved by Coach A Liang’s spirit of persisting in running despite such a setback. Running has long been ingrained in his life, becoming an indispensable part of it.
When discussing the innovative approach of combining trail running with charitable fundraising, A Liang expressed full support. He himself signed up for this edition of the "Challenge 8 Hours" trail race. A Liang said that trail running is inherently a costly sport. Abroad, people have already closely integrated it with fundraising, gaining joy while practicing philanthropy. One of his American running friends has run through all 55 states in the U.S. through fundraising efforts. However, in China, it takes time for people to accept this new concept. With organizational support, A Liang is very willing to continue pursuing his running dreams using this approach.
The "Challenge 8 Hours" hiking charity trail race aims to build a platform where more people can understand, accept, and practice fundraising. It encourages those around them to participate in charity and sports during the fundraising process, achieving a "win-win" situation. What are you waiting for? Sign up now!
