From September 2 to 7, the 11th China International Mountain Outdoor Sports Open (Chongqing・Wulong) will kick off in Wulong County, Chongqing. Over 20 top domestic and international outdoor sports teams will compete again in this UNESCO World Natural Heritage site and national 5A-level tourist attraction.
At the press conference for the event held on the 28th, Huang Zonglin, Deputy Secretary of the Wulong County Committee, introduced: “This competition, themed ‘Sports bring joy to life, pushing limits to challenge the self,’ consists of a ranking round and the main competition. It includes various events such as cross-country running, carrying a sedan chair, run-bike-run, mountain biking, kayaking, zip-lining, slingshot shooting, rafting, creeking, rappelling, and cave river crossing, covering a total distance of 203 kilometers. Among these, ‘slingshot shooting’ is a new event this year.”
Xue Yun, Deputy Director of the Outdoor Sports Department at the Mountaineering Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, said that the competition has attracted over 20 teams, including the world’s top 6 and China’s top 5 outdoor sports teams, with a total prize purse of up to 200,000 US dollars.
The China International Mountain Outdoor Sports Open (Chongqing・Wulong) has become the highest-level mountain outdoor competition hosted domestically by the General Administration of Sport of China. After 11 consecutive years of hosting, the event is now also recognized as a top-tier international competition.
