The Lin Chuchih Kapok Avenue in Baihe was listed by a Spanish travel website in 2015 as one of the world’s 15 most beautiful flower-walking paths. Each year from January to March during the kapok season, it attracts many visitors. This year affected by the warm winter, the blooming season started nearly a month early. Currently about 80% of the flowers have bloomed. The “2019 Kapok Season” event has been adjusted accordingly and will be held from February 16 to March 10.

During the floral season (may end earlier depending on bloom status), various activities take place every weekend, including street performers, musical performances, guided tours, photography contests, and more. There are also tree sapling giveaways and “Flower Viewing & Coloring Fun” postcard painting events where participants can get gifts by checking in. The first two days of the floral season feature a rural market with specialties from Baihe, Xinying, Houbi, and Dongshan.

In addition to the several-hundred-meter-long crimson kapok boulevard, this year visitors can enjoy the beautiful sight of red duckweed at the wooden pavilion. The golden rain trees around Lin Chuchih are also in full bloom. The kapok avenue is flanked by colorful flower seas that form a tunnel-like view — perfect for flower appreciation, photography, and enjoying a slow-paced holiday.

Due to large crowds during the kapok season, traffic is restricted from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekends. Vehicles are not allowed to enter. Restricted points include the South 90 Lin Chuchih Intersection, Jiuzhique Bridge, and the old Taiwan Sugar Railway entrance (at the intersection of South 88 and 89). Nearby roadside parking is available along South 88 and 89.

It is recommended to use public transportation. During the floral season on weekends, you can take the Xin Ying Bus Line 6-1 Yellow Trunk Line “Weekend Rural Leisure Bus,” which has added extra trips to the kapok avenue. Additionally, the T-Bike public bike rental system in Tainan has stations at Houpi Wumile Tourism Service Center, Little South Sea Scenic Area (next to Putuo Zen Temple Suspension Bridge), Baihe District Xinlian Township Store (near 7-11), the old railway entrance of the kapok avenue, and Xin Ying Station (next to Xin Ying Train Station).
