The Executive Yuan has finalized the 2017 public holiday schedule. In total, there will be 116 days off in 2017, the same as this year. There are six long holidays of three days or more, one fewer than this year. However, the Spring Festival break is only six days, three days fewer than this year.

There are four four-day holidays in 2017, including Peace Memorial Day (4 days), Children’s Day and Tomb Sweeping Festival (4 days), Dragon Boat Festival (4 days), and National Day (4 days). Only Mid-Autumn Festival falls on Wednesday, October 4, with no attached long break—but just by taking leave on October 5 and 6, you can combine it with National Day for a seven-day holiday.

Additionally, in 2017 there are three adjusted holidays: 228 Peace Memorial Day, Dragon Boat Festival, and National Day, all falling on Tuesdays. According to the “Guidelines on Adjusting Workdays,” any holiday that lands on a Tuesday or Thursday will be officially adjusted to grant a day off, but the preceding Saturday will be a workday. The Dragon Boat Festival was originally scheduled to have a make-up workday on May 20, but considering that May 20 coincides with the 2017 Junior High School Entrance Exams, it has been moved to June 3. Those planning their 2017 travel itinerary can start preparing early.
