The Hawaiian Lantern Floating Festival was first initiated in 1999 by a Buddhist group, aiming to send good wishes to those who have left this world by releasing lanterns on the sea. Today, it has become a major annual event in Hawaii, attracting tens of thousands of visitors from around the world to participate.

The organizers provide free lanterns to participants every year, where they can write down their wishes and hopes, then release the lanterns into the sea. Slowly drifting out to the ocean, they shine like countless stars in the night sky, carrying everyone’s heartfelt blessings.
