Kyushu Waffle Masters’ New Culinary Sensation: Limited-Edition Japanese Fried Chicken Waffle

Kyushu Waffle Coffee from Japan’s Kyushu region is launching a brand-new limited dish, the “Japanese Fried Chicken Waffle (Karaage Chicken Waffle),” exclusively at its Songshan store starting August 1. Karaage refers to Japanese-style fried chicken. Using a specially blended Japanese karaage seasoning and cooking method, Kyushu Waffle selects boneless chicken thighs to deliver a refreshing flavor distinct from both Taiwanese and American styles. Additionally, Kyushu Waffle will launch a fan-exclusive event in August. During the campaign period, customers who order the “Japanese Fried Chicken Waffle” at the Songshan store and upload a photo sharing their dining experience will have a chance to win a Kyushu Waffle duo set.

In Japanese cuisine, coating ingredients in flour or cornstarch before frying is called karaage. Compared to Western and Taiwanese frying methods, Japanese karaage features an even thinner and crispier crust. Paired with a waffle, sprinkled with chopped fresh parsley, and a refreshing slice of yellow lemon, the dish is finished with a homemade white wine honey sauce drizzled over the karaage chicken and waffle. The sauce, made with a touch of white wine and carefully selected Taiwanese honey, is alcohol-free yet carries a hint of wine aroma. This unique Kyushu Waffle sauce achieves the perfect balance between savory and sweet flavors.

In addition, with the arrival of the hot summer, Kyushu has also introduced a variety of refreshing and fruity new smoothies. These velvety smoothies are made from 100% natural fruits, with real chunks of sweet and tangy fruit mixed in for texture. The transparent cups are also adorned with chef-designed fruit stickers on the inside, while the tops are piled high with vibrant fresh fruits for a visually stunning presentation. These drinks not only elevate the flavor experience but also offer a creative new way to enjoy fruit.

From August 1 to August 31, diners at Kyushu Waffle’s Songshan store who order the “Japanese Fried Chicken Waffle,” take a photo, upload it to their social media, and share their dining experience using the hashtags #KyushuWaffle and #JapaneseFriedChickenWaffle will be entered to win a free Kyushu Waffle duo set.
