The Tianmu White House, once a dormitory for U.S. military personnel stationed in Taiwan, is situated at the entrance of Tianmu Park. It is the only remaining general’s residence for U.S. officers in the Tianmu area. Its white rain-screen siding bears witness to the history of U.S.-China defense cooperation and is one of the area’s landmarks, as well as a nostalgic memory for many locals. In 2005, it was designated as a municipal historic site by the Ministry of Culture. After renovation, it officially opened to the public on July 20.

Built in 1953 during the U.S. military presence in Taiwan, the Tianmu White House is the only surviving structure from that period. Its white exterior showcases a blend of Japanese and Western architectural styles. Inside, there are fireplaces, sunrooms, and a historical corridor, while outdoors, there is a terrace and a large expanse of lush green lawn, covering hundreds of square meters — like an urban oasis.
