On the afternoon of November 7, a Luoyang mountaineering team arrived at the Yingxia Peak Ridge in the Songshan Scenic Area of Dengfeng City, preparing to go rock climbing. However, midway through, two hikers were unfortunately injured by falling rocks and got trapped in the mountains. Firefighters and an outdoor rescue team from Dengfeng City immediately responded to the call and launched a rescue operation. After nearly six hours of effort, the two individuals were successfully rescued.
According to Mr. Wang, a member of the outdoor rescue team, at 5:30 p.m. that day, the rescue team received instructions from the 110 emergency hotline and immediately headed to the incident site. Around 6:30 p.m., the rescue team found one of the injured at the Yingxiu Peak Ridge and helped them descend the mountain with assistance. Subsequently, they learned that the other injured person was still trapped on the mountain. At this point, light rain began to fall, temperatures dropped sharply, and the rescue team grew concerned about potential dangers for the other hiker. They accelerated their pace and conducted a second rescue mission in the rain and darkness. By around 9 p.m., they located the second trapped hiker and brought them down the mountain.
It is understood that the two trapped hikers were using ropes to descend while rock climbing, but the rocks to which the ropes were tied could not bear the weight of both individuals and became dislodged, causing them to fall off the ridge. “Both individuals are currently in good condition and are not in life-threatening danger,” said Mr. Wang.
The Dengfeng Outdoor Rescue Team reminds hikers that when engaging in outdoor activities, they should choose familiar routes. In case of getting lost, they should find a location with good signal to call for help and wait for rescue patiently.
