The Kaohsiung City Government has introduced the nation's first open-top double-decker sightseeing bus, which was recently unveiled. It is set to integrate with the city's light rail system, becoming a new highlight in Kaohsiung’s transportation. Additionally, to accommodate passengers with disabilities, the open-top double-decker bus also includes additional wheelchair spaces, offering more comprehensive services.

The upper deck of the open-top double-decker bus has 44 seats, while the lower deck has 10. The service will initially operate two trial routes—one east-west and one north-south—connecting major attractions in Kaohsiung, including Pier-2 Art Center, Hamasen, Dream Mall, Kaohsiung Exhibition Center, City Light Corridor, National Science and Technology Museum, and Formosa Boulevard MRT Station, allowing visitors to experience the beauty of the city and the charm of a river and harbor metropolis.

The open-top double-decker bus is staffed with guides who provide commentary. Additionally, handheld audio guide devices are available onboard to assist foreign tourists. These devices can be preloaded with attraction introductions in different languages and will automatically play upon arrival at each site. Currently, guides are available in English, Japanese, and Korean, with plans to expand to other languages in the future. Trial operations will begin in August.
