Mii-zumi Tonkatsu has ten branches in Japan (as of August 2016), with its flagship store located in Aoyama. There are five stores in Tokyo, and others spread across Yokohama, Sapporo, Ibaraki, Nagano, and Saitama. The brand also has counters throughout Japan. With a history of fifty years, Mii-zumi was founded in Showa 40 (1965), initially set up in the Mitsui Building in Yurakucho, Hibiya, Tokyo. Three years later, it moved into the basement food court of Mitsukoshi Department Store in Nihonbashi. In 1978, the Mii-zumi Aoyama Main Building was established, and in 1983, the Aoyama flagship store opened. Initially, it only sold home-style fried dishes and tonkatsu, but after gaining popularity, it evolved into a full-fledged restaurant and chain brand loved by consumers.

If you’re traveling to Tokyo, you can enjoy Mii-zumi tonkatsu at Shibuya Tokyu Department Store’s Tokyu hands, Shibuya Hikarie, and Marunouchi Takashimaya. The flagship store is open until 22:45, Tokyu Tokyu hands until 22:30, and both Shibuya Hikarie and Marunouchi Takashimaya are open until 23:00—no need to worry about early closing times. In Taiwan, operating hours will follow those of the department store. In October, when Mii-zumi opens in Taiwan, you can taste Tokyo’s most popular, crispy yet tender fried pork cutlet.
