The Taichung Taoyuan Art Season is about to kick off. In conjunction with the 2018 World Flora Exposition in Taichung, this edition of the art season has been expanded. A total of 200+ events across 8 major categories will be held in 53 venues spanning mountain, sea, Tung, and urban areas. On the opening day, international classical diva Hayley Westenra will be performing. She will collaborate with the National Experimental Chorus to sing beloved works by “the Father of Taiwanese Choral Music,” Lu Quansheng, including the classic piece “If We Open the Windows of Our Hearts,” among others.

To commemorate the centennial of the late “Father of Taiwanese Choral Music” Lu Quansheng, Hayley will collaborate with the National Experimental Chorus during the opening performance to sing his well-known piece “If We Open the Windows of Our Hearts.” The National Experimental Chorus will also perform two other classic Lu Quansheng compositions: “Lullaby” and “Don’t Keep Goldfish at the Bottom of the Cup.” Additionally, Hayley will sing “Rainy Night Flower” and “Flower Heart,” among other floral-themed songs from both Chinese and international repertoires. With her warm, pure voice, she will adorn the mountain city’s night sky.

The “2016 Taichung Taoyuan Art Season” will host over 200 events over a span of two and a half months, spanning 53 event venues including four major cultural centers, libraries, performance venues, and cultural heritage sites. The program includes 8 major categories: performing arts, visual arts, installation art, outstanding team showcases, street parades, Taoyuan Fantasy Children’s Theater, mini-stage relay performances, and art highlights.
