To help visitors learn about Tainan’s second-hand vintage goods and unique museums, the Tainan City Tourism Bureau has launched two special themed maps: “Tainan Nostalgia Treasure Hunt” and “Tainan Museum Journey.” In addition to introducing characteristic vintage goods, the maps also feature major museums, allowing travelers to experience the rich human touch of Tainan culture and discover new nostalgic hipster spots through the folded map pages.

Walking around Tainan, it’s easy to come across old houses and historic buildings in its alleys. Whether it’s the structures themselves or the wrought-iron window decorations, they all exude retro living elements, instantly immersing you in a bygone era. The “Nostalgia Treasure Hunt” fold-out map is illustrated by artist Da Yuren. A fan of second-hand goods herself, she has specially selected Tainan’s vintage bookstores, furniture, and sundry shops. Through her lively illustration style, you can explore the rich collections of enthusiasts and uncover little fragments of memories from the past.

The “Tainan Museum Journey” covers venues such as the Oyster Shell Kiln Cultural Park in Anping District, the Fort Zeelandia Museum, and the Tainan Indigenous Peoples Cultural Hall; the National Museum of Taiwan Literature, the Lins Department Store, and the Ye Shi-Tao Literature Memorial Hall in the West Central District; the Tugou Rural Art Museum in Houpi District; the Chi Mei Museum and Shigum Sugar Creative Park in Rende District; and the Nanying Astronomical Museum in Dainei District, making it perfect for family visits.
