The story follows "Section 9," a special investigative unit that visualizes the memories of deceased individuals by scanning their brains to solve cold cases. Section Chief Sai (played by Toma Ikuta), blessed with rare beauty, and rookie investigator Aoki (Masaki Okada) are assigned a mission: to peer into the mind of death row inmate Tsukiguchi (Kippei Shiina) to locate the whereabouts of his missing eldest daughter, Kinuko (Risa Yoshida). However, the memory images displayed on screen leave the investigators deeply shaken...

In the visuals, they see Kinuko wielding a knife. Though "Section 9" and detective Manabe (Nao Omori) eventually find Kinuko, she has lost her memory due to the shock of witnessing her father’s crimes. Meanwhile, Manabe tracks down a man linked to Kinuko, who commits suicide right in front of him. It is later discovered that nine people across Japan took their own lives at the exact same time. In search of the reason behind these simultaneous suicides, the "secret" will soon be revealed...
