The ultra-popular “Gudetama,” hailed as the new-generation healing “mascot king” in Taiwan, drew nearly 400,000 fans to the “Gudetama’s Too Lazy” exhibition during its 2015–2016 runs in Taipei and Kaohsiung. The exhibition incorporated local Taiwanese elements, featuring the “Egg Emperor’s Palace,” Taiwanese night market snacks, Taipei 101, and Kaohsiung’s Dragon and Tiger Pagodas. Now making its way to Taichung, it’s set to deliver a refreshing new experience for central Taiwan audiences.

The exhibition focuses on Gudetama’s lazy and adorable daily life, divided into four main zones. Visitors wanting to get to know Gudetama better can head to the “Chase Gudetama” zone, where they can interview the character through a rapid-fire Q&A. The “Gudetama’s Daily Life” zone depicts Gudetama being there for you at any time of day—whether it’s breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, or even dinner—helping you unwind from the stresses of everyday life.

The “Gudetama Travels Taiwan” zone is centered around the “Egg Emperor’s Palace,” surrounded by a shopping street, outdoor attractions, parks, and night markets. The nostalgic, retro atmosphere gives the Japanese-born Gudetama a distinct Taiwanese local flavor. The “Gudetama Drafts Zone” showcases the creator’s first impressions of Taiwan—from yellow taxis, garbage trucks, and motorcycles—to the creative process of integrating Gudetama into local Taiwanese features, all presented through drafts.
