TransAsia Airways spokesperson Liu Chung-chi said he was completely unaware of the matter. It wasn’t until former Minister of Transportation and Communications and Civil Aeronautics Administration Director General Chang Kuo-cheng held a press conference on the morning of November 29 that news of the proposal spread. He stated that after receiving contact from Chang Kuo-cheng, TransAsia would also make a decision and present relevant opinions to the Civil Aeronautics Administration.

Although Chang Kuo-cheng had secured local funding and proposed taking over TransAsia’s air rights, the plan remained unclear. The Civil Aeronautics Administration did not receive any mention of “TransAsia” in the reports submitted, leading to a breakdown in cooperation. The decision to reclaim the air rights has become certain. The original air rights must be redistributed by the end of 2016.
