Another beloved Japanese dessert brand is making its way to Taiwan, this time featuring the long-wait line favorite “Zakuzaku” (ザクザク). Known for using premium ingredients such as specially selected fresh milk from Hokkaido, Japan, it offers a rich and smooth custard cream filling, sprinkled with almond flakes, delivering a unique texture. Since opening in Shinjuku in 2014, it has remained highly popular and is one of Tokyo’s most queued-up dessert shops.

This time, Zakuzaku’s stick-shaped puff pastries are making their debut in Taiwan, setting up shop in the food hotspot of Xinyi District, located at Taipei XinYi A11, New Taipei City Shin Kong Mitsukoshi. It is expected to open on December 23.

The ice cream is a product available exclusively at Tokyo’s Ikebukuro Tobu and Harajuku stores. (Image source / クロッカンシュ0?ザクザク)

The brand prides itself on offering one item per brand, so its main outlets only sell puff pastries. However, ice cream is available at the Harajuku and Ikebukuro Tobu stores, where it is a limited item. In Japan, the price for a single puff is 250 yen (tax included), while a six-pack is 1250 yen (tax included).

Zakuzaku (ザクザク) has four locations in Tokyo (Shinjuku, Harajuku, Kamata, and Ikebukuro Tobu). Its first overseas branch is in Taiwan, aiming to tap into the island’s promising dessert market. The Christmas season launch also coincides with peak dessert sales period—those eager to try it may need to line up early.
