After 20 years, the country’s first airport MRT line is finally entering the countdown to its opening. The Airport MRT, which has successfully completed its initial inspection, is expected to begin operation as early as after the Spring Festival next year (2017). Travel time from Taipei Main Station to Taoyuan Airport will take just 36 minutes. However, sharp-eyed netizens have noticed that the Airport MRT is not directly connected to Taipei Main Station MRT—after exiting, passengers still need to walk for 6 minutes to transfer to Taiwan Railways and the high-speed rail. To reach the Taipei MRT, it could even take nearly 10 minutes.
