The 2016 Hsinchu City Gratitude Season series event "Heart’s Hope 'Christmas Tree Lighting'" grandly kicked off on December 9th at Dongmen City Square, where Hsinchu Mayor Lin Chih-chien and numerous guests jointly lit up the 9-meter-tall Christmas tree on Dongmen Roundabout, together "lighting up Hsinchu City."

The 2016 Hsinchu City Gratitude Season kicked off lively on December 1st, successively launching four series of events: "Make a Wish 'Care & Dream Fulfillment'," "Heart’s Hope 'Christmas Tree Lighting'," "Christmas Village 'City Light Corridor'," and "Embrace Love 'Gratitude Gala.'" Among them, the "Heart’s Hope 'Christmas Tree Lighting'" event commenced with performances by children from the Christian Renguang Kindergarten and the Catholic Diocese of Hsinchu Holy Family Kindergarten, who presented Christmas medleys, musical rhythm dances, and drum performances, perfectly aligning with the theme of "Love@Gospel."

The Cultural Affairs Bureau stated that the "Make a Wish 'Care & Dream Fulfillment'" event will run until the 20th, inviting the public to visit the wish walls at Hsinchu Mega City, Big City Department Store, and Shin Kong Mitsukoshi to purchase wish cards and help fulfill the dreams of underprivileged children. The "Christmas Village 'City Light Corridor'" will transform the 300-meter-long moat riverside into a happiness corridor with warm golden lighting, while the joyful "Riverside Christmas Market" will be held on the 24th and 25th along the moat by Fuhou Street. The "Embrace Love 'Gratitude Gala'" will take place on Christmas Eve, December 24th, at 6:30 PM at the City Government Square, aiming to celebrate Christmas together with the citizens.
