To help travelers plan their trips earlier, the official Shirakawa-go website has finally announced the Gassho Village illumination dates for Heisei 29 (2017), which are January 22–23, January 29–30, and February 5–6 — a total of six days. During this time, the village will be blanketed in silver-white, shimmering under a galaxy of warm lights, presenting an indescribably breathtaking sight. Travelers who wish to experience this can start planning now.
