Organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the "Bank of China Hong Kong 2017 New Year's Eve Countdown" event will take place on the evening of December 31st in Victoria Harbour and on numerous buildings across Hong Kong Island. This year’s spectacular will be extended to ten minutes, featuring a rich array of elements including fireworks, pyrotechnics, music, and lights, along with the debut of several new firework designs such as "Six Stars in a Row," "Butterflies in Flight," and "Sea Salute Cannons."

Lighting effects will also appear over the water for the first time, enhancing the festive mood of the fireworks show. Additionally, the Hong Kong Tourism Board will host a street party in Tsim Sha Tsui before the countdown show, inviting celebrity guests to celebrate together as the countdown begins.

At 10 p.m., a street party will kick off near Tsim Sha Tsui Ferry Pier, featuring performances by multiple celebrity guests. After 11 p.m., six buildings on Hong Kong Island—including Cheung Kong Center, CITIC Tower, Harbour Centre, Harcourt House, Government Offices at Admiralty, and the Revenue Tower—will launch “Wishing Stars” fireworks from their rooftops every 15 minutes, each symbolizing different meanings, allowing visitors and locals alike to make New Year’s wishes.

Those wishing to enjoy the show can view it from various locations across Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. Prime viewing spots include: Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, the coastal area near the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza, the new Central Harbourfront, the areas around piers 9 and 10 in Central, and Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai. Furthermore, to share this exciting moment with audiences worldwide, the Hong Kong Tourism Board will broadcast the event live via satellite to major TV networks globally.
