[Manchester by the Sea] is produced by movie star Matt Damon, and the director enlisted Kenneth Lonergan, who was nominated for Best Director at the Golden Globes and won Best Screenplay at the Oscars. The story of [Manchester by the Sea] takes place in a small town in Massachusetts, USA called “Manchester by the Sea.” The story is based on an idea from Matt Damon, who originally wanted to direct the film himself and invited Kenneth to write the script. Later, due to scheduling constraints, he couldn’t direct it, so he asked Casey Affleck, whom he believed was the only actor who could perfectly portray the role, to take the lead.

The film depicts Lee Chandler (played by Casey Affleck), who leaves his hometown to escape a painful past and works as a handyman in a small town in Boston. The sudden death of his brother forces him to return to “Manchester by the Sea” in Massachusetts, where he becomes the legal guardian of his nephew Patrick (played by Lucas Hedges).

In addition to the generational communication gap, Lee must not only help Patrick heal from the loss of his father but also face his ex-wife Randi (played by Michelle Williams), who has started a new family. This journey also gives Lee a chance to begin healing his broken heart...
