Taipei has a new flower sea attraction, located under the Mai-Sui Second Bridge along the Rainbow Riverside. The sunflower sea is currently in full bloom, with a vast expanse of golden blooms that look like a postcard from a painting. In recent days, it has attracted many visitors to take photos and check in. The flower viewing period is expected to last until mid-February, making it a great place for people to enjoy spring outings during the Lunar New Year holiday.

This is the first time a sunflower sea has been planted on the Neihu side of the Rainbow Riverside Park, covering an area of3500square meters(one thousand pyeong), about the size of eight standard basketball courts. Keen-eyed visitors can see this colorful sea of flowers simply by looking down from the Mai-Sui Second Bridge — it's a spectacular and eye-catching sight.

Sunflowers, also known as helianthus or sun plants, get their name because their flower heads always turn toward the sun. They are1-2annual herbs, typically growing to a height of about2.5-3.5meters. Given Taiwan’s climate, they can bloom all year round. Additionally, sunflower plants are rich in nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, and can be used as green manure to nourish the soil, which is why they are often planted by farmers during fallow periods.
