The Lunar New Year is here, and many people take advantage of the holiday to travel around Taiwan, while local governments have launched special events to boost tourism. The Flower Sea Festival is one of the key spring outings. The 2017 Taibao City Flower Sea Festival made a grand debut in Chiayi’s Taibao District, featuring not only vibrant seas of flowers such as rapeseed and cosmos but also a special five-meter-tall “Happiness Bear” crafted from straw that stole the show this year. The Taibao Flower Sea Festival has created a dreamy 25-hectare colorful flower field paired with various installation artworks. On the opening day alone, tens of thousands of visitors flocked in, marking an unprecedented turnout. The floral display is expected to last until January 31st, making it a great recommendation for visitors to check out during the Lunar New Year holiday.
