The world is always full of wonders. Even in today's era of advanced internet technology, there are still hidden paradises untouched by the hustle and bustle. Located in the south of Italy's renowned Emerald Coast in Southern Europe, a stunning solitary island rises above the azure sea, and this is the world's smallest kingdom—Tavolara. The Kingdom of Tavolara is home to only 11 residents and over 100 goats. The current king is Antonio Bertoleoni, and the only privilege he enjoys is free meals at the island’s only restaurant.

In 1807, Antonio’s great-great-grandfather Giuseppe Bertoleoni became the first resident of this uninhabited island. In 1836, Carlo Alberto, the ruler of Sardinia, came to Tavolara Island to hunt goats and was warmly hosted by Giuseppe’s son, Paolo. Delighted, Carlo left and declared Tavolara an independent territory, presenting Paolo with a scroll from the House of Savoy, thus establishing the island’s monarchy.
