Step into a forest maze — Hsinchu’s hidden mangrove ecological area

Mangroves are an indispensable part of Taiwan’s ecosystem. In addition to the mangrove area in Tamsui, there is also a vast mangrove ecological zone in Xinfeng Township, Hsinchu. The mangrove recreational area located in Hsinchu’s Hongmao Port covers approximately 8.5 hectares. It is not only an ecological conservation area but also the only place in northern Taiwan where black mangroves (Kandelia obovata) and smooth cordgrass (Spartina alterniflora) grow together. Walking into the ecological area feels like entering a green jungle maze. Not only are there well-established walking trails along the way, but there are also rest pavilions. The scenery of the intertidal zone at night is particularly enchanting, making it a recommended spot for travelers visiting Hsinchu.
