In the heart of Chiayi City lies a forest cultural and creative park spanning approximately 3.4 hectares, preserving traditional Japanese-style architecture. Stepping into this village feels like traveling back to a bygone era of historical splendor. The park has repurposed former dormitories of Japanese employees and official residences using traditional Japanese craftsmanship, transforming modern buildings into a new hub for forestry culture, art, tourism, and entertainment—Hinoki Forest Village. It is not only Taiwan’s earliest forestry village but also the most well-preserved and expansive complex of Japanese-style official residences, which led to its registration as a municipal historic site and historical building in 2005.

The park also features the municipal historic site Camp Club, built around 1914 as a recreational facility for the then-Taiwan Governor-General’s Forestry Bureau. Its architecture imitates 17th-century British Tudor-style buildings from Europe, exuding a strong historical charm and exotic flair.
