Calla Lily Season at Zhuzihhu in Yangmingshan during the Flower Festival – Bus and Car Transfer Discounts

Before the Lunar New Year, the pink cherry blossoms of Yangmingshan had already begun to bloom. In 2017, due to the early arrival of the Lunar New Year in late January and the impact of extreme weather, the pink cherry blossoms (mountain cherries) on Yangmingshan bloomed about half a month later than usual, showcasing their lovely peachy-pink blossoms. This finally brought smiles to flower enthusiasts both locally and abroad who had been anxiously awaiting the blooms. The 2017 Yangmingshan Flower Festival was scheduled from February 10 to March 19, featuring a 38-day event across two venues: the Flower Research Center and Yangmingshan Park. This year, with the completion of renewal projects in Yangmingshan Park, not only was a cherry blossom grove and stream area added in front of the Flower Clock — completely transforming the familiar look of the square — but a new all-ages accessible pathway was also installed, making it easy for seniors and children to reach every corner of the park. The renewal project was even awarded the ‘Public Construction Gold Quality Award’ by Taiwan’s Public Construction Commission. Flower lovers should take this opportunity to also check out the park’s new look.

With the Yangmingshan Flower Festival (February 10 – March 19) and Zhuzihhu Calla Lily Season (March 24 – April 23) underway, the Taipei City Department of Transportation has specially launched Flower Festival shuttle buses and leisure buses. These services will operate from February 10 to April 23. Due to limited parking on the mountain, it is recommended to use public transport to get there. Those driving can park at the Bai Ling High School Underground Parking Lot or the Fu Lin Park Underground Parking Lot, then transfer to Red 5, 109, 111, 260, or the Flower Festival Special Bus 127 to head up the mountain. Upon arrival, visitors can get discount stamps at four locations: the Yangmingshan Park Visitor Center, Yangmingshan National Park Visitor Center, the main bus terminal, or the second parking lot management office. With these stamps, you can enjoy free parking for the first three hours on the day of use.

The routes include the 127 (Metro Jiantan Station – Yangmingshan Second Parking Lot), which shuttles from the city to Yangmingshan, as well as several loop routes on the mountain: 124 (Xiaoyoukeng – Yangmingshan Second Parking Lot – Yangmingshan Bus Terminal), 125 (Flower Clock – Yangmingshan Bus Terminal), 130 (Yangmingshan Second Parking Lot – Yangmingshan Memorial House), 131 (Yangmingshan Second Parking Lot – Zhuzihhu), and the 131 Branch (Yangmingshan Second Parking Lot – Hutian District Civic Activity Center – Dinghu). Additionally, leisure buses 128 and 129 have extended their routes to Zhuzihhu. Except for routes 128, 129, and the 131 Branch (which are two-section fare), all other lines use a one-section fare system to provide more diverse travel options. Except for routes 127, 128, 129, and the 131 Branch (which run only on weekends and holidays), all other routes operate daily.

The Flower Festival Special Bus 131 Branch continues its service by taking visitors to areas around Zhuzihhu’s Dinghu. It can be boarded at the Yangmingshan Bus Terminal and the Second Parking Lot. Furthermore, bus operators may increase frequency based on weather and passenger flow. Take advantage of these services to avoid traffic jams and the hassle of finding parking. To accommodate those with mobility challenges visiting the mountain for flowers, you can take Bus 260 (including the Branch and Flower Clock Line) from Taipei Main Station to Yangmingshan. The 260 Flower Clock Line is fully equipped with low-floor buses (featuring two accessible seats) and two large rehabilitation buses (with six accessible seats). From Metro Jiantan Station to the Yangmingshan Bus Terminal, you can take Bus Red 5, which is also generally equipped with low-floor buses. Additionally, during the Flower Festival and Calla Lily Season, from 8 AM to 5 PM daily, there is a free small-scale rehabilitation bus shuttle service at the “Yangmingshan Flower Clock Parking Lot,” providing transportation for people with disabilities to and from the “Yangmingshan Memorial House,” the “Yangmingshan National Park – Erziping Recreation Area,” and the “Zhuzihhu” region.

Please note that the last bus times vary for each Flower Festival special bus and leisure bus. After the last bus, you can transfer to the Downhill Bus at the Taipei Metropolitan Bus Yangmingshan Terminal. Please make use of public transport to avoid traffic congestion.
