The renowned aviation review website Airline Ratings announced the world’s safest airlines of 2017 in January, with selection criteria primarily based on records from the full year of 2016. Taiwan’s EVA Air made the list for the fourth time with outstanding performance, ranking among the world’s safest airlines. 2016 was the safest year in aviation history. Airline Ratings conducted a preliminary screening of airlines based on seven criteria including fleet operations, maintenance standards, and safety records, followed by a second round of rigorous evaluation to determine the safest airlines. Qantas took the top spot, receiving high praise for its zero accidents and excellent operational practices.
