Hidden Cherry Blossom Sanctuary: Rare Blossoms & a Romantic Pink Tunnel

Known as one of the most beautiful cherry blossoms, weeping cherry trees feature slender, willow-like branches adorned with cascading blooms—truly enchanting. There are many varieties of weeping cherries, but they are rarely seen in Taiwan mainly due to grafting incompatibility with local rootstocks. Located at the intersection of Huanhua Township in Changhua County and Wuri District in Taichung City, the Huanhua Flower Leisure Park became an overnight sensation several years ago due to its rare weeping cherry blossoms, quickly turning into a popular cherry blossom spot in central Taiwan. Spanning 5 hectares, the park features a 150-meter-long cherry blossom tunnel. The area is home to a variety of cherry species including Somei Yoshino, weeping cherry, purple cherry, and Kawazu-zakura, displaying a rich spectrum of colors that create a breathtaking spectacle. The park even offers free admission, fueling a cherry blossom tourism boom in Huanhua Township. Currently, the weeping cherry blossoms in Zhoushu are nearly at peak bloom—now is the perfect time to visit. Other cherry blossom avenues will gradually come into full bloom before the end of April, allowing visitors to enjoy the spectacle without traveling to Japan or heading up to the mountains, right here by the Wu River.
