The fifth annual “Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants” list was unveiled at an awards ceremony held at Bangkok’s W Hotel. Bangkok’s GAGGAN claimed the top spot for the third consecutive year, being named the “Best Restaurant in Asia” and “Best Restaurant in Thailand” sponsored by San Pellegrino and Acqua Panna.

This year’s list welcomed 10 new entries, with China, Japan, Singapore, and Thailand each having nine restaurants on the list. Singapore’s RESTAURANT ANDRE moved up one spot to second place, earning the title of “Best Restaurant in Singapore” sponsored by San Pellegrino and Acqua Panna. Hong Kong’s AMBER (ranked 3rd) was named “Best Restaurant in China.” Tokyo’s NARISAWA (ranked 6th) claimed the title of “Best Restaurant in Japan” for the fifth consecutive year. Seoul’s MINGLES (ranked 15th) was once again named “Best Restaurant in Korea,” while INDIAN ACCENT (ranked 30th) earned the title of “Best Restaurant in India” for the third time.

RAW (ranked 24th) was named “Best Restaurant in Taiwan,” Colombo’s MINISTRY OF CRAB (ranked 29th) was crowned “Best Restaurant in Sri Lanka,” and Manila’s GALLERY VASK (ranked 35th) reclaimed the title of “Best Restaurant in the Philippines.”

The Making of the “Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants” List
This list is voted on by the “Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants” Academy, which consists of over 300 influential figures in the Asian dining scene. In 2017, Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants once again partnered with the professional services firm Deloitte, which served as its official independent auditing partner.
