[Tomorrow, I Will Date You Before You Were Born] is adapted from the “time-space miracle” romance novel by Shugoro Yamamoto. Since its publication in August 2014, the novel has consistently topped the “Recommended Romance Novels” ranking on Japan’s popular book community site “Reading Counter,” while its “heart-wrenching love story” has continued to spark discussion and garnered recommendations from Japanese celebrities such as actress Kanna Hashimoto, Nogizaka46’s Misa Watanabe, and NMB48’s Mukumi Matsumura.

The story follows Nanashima Takashi (played by Sota Fukushi), a student at Kyoto University of Art and Design, who one day meets Fukuju Aimi (played by Nana Komatsu) on a sunlit train and falls in love at first sight. When he musters the courage to ask if they can see each other again, she suddenly bursts into tears. Though puzzled, the two meet again the next day and, with the help of his friend Ueyama (played by Masahiro Higashide), quickly begin dating.

Their love is the envy of all, yet Takashi finds it puzzling when Aimi bursts into tears during their first confession, first hand-holding, or even when he calls her by a nickname for the first time.

But as time goes by, Takashi unexpectedly discovers that Aimi holds a shocking secret beyond his imagination—“What if I knew your future?” It turns out their encounter was no accident but a destined inevitability.
