School libraries generally give off an impression of seriousness and monotony, bustling with people browsing and borrowing books, and aren’t usually the first place most students want to go after class. Located in Taichung City, Lixin Junior High School has turned this concept on its head. In 2016, the school invited the local spatial design firm Dayi Design to completely renovate the space. The firm infused the interior with a relaxed and free-spirited atmosphere, using warm wood tones as the main palette and creating zones that exude contemporary style, thus offering a refreshing contrast to the rigid environment typical of traditional school libraries. The newly designed space has become highly popular among students. Many now voluntarily spend their spare time there, praising it as a truly comfortable reading haven.
