Remember that viral loneliness index chart online? Eating alone, watching movies alone, and going to amusement parks alone all ranked high—but singing karaoke alone was the option that made many netizens exclaim, “That’s just too lonely!” However, two new KTV phone booths have recently appeared in Taichung. These compact spaces make singing solo in your own booth totally chill. It costs just NT$20 per session—sing to your heart’s content until you’re satisfied, then head home.

Taichung Kbro Cinemas invested tens of millions of New Taiwan Dollars in a major cinema renovation this September and introduced two mini KTV booths. The machines went into operation in mid-October. For the pocket-friendly price of just NT$20, you can enjoy a private one-person booth, which unexpectedly became a hot topic. Additionally, the cinema has set up a VR exhibition space where visitors can enjoy a free experience with their movie ticket stubs.

The exterior resembles a classic British-style red telephone booth. Inside the less-than-two-square-meter space, the equipment is surprisingly complete, featuring a high-resolution LCD screen and access to 15,000 original music videos. If you want to try it out with friends, there are two microphones provided, and the booth can accommodate up to four people at once. Next time you want to sing but can’t round up anyone, just swing by the cinema, drop NT$20, and challenge yourself to a solo booth session to let loose to your heart’s content.
