Checheng, hailed as the most beautiful wooden railway station, is situated in Checheng Village, Nantou County. Constructed during the Japanese colonial era and completed in 1922, it became part of today’s Jiji Railway branch line. The present appearance of Checheng was reconstructed using logs by the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration after suffering severe damage from the 921 Earthquake. Even the open space in front of the station is paved with logs, giving it a distinctive and highly Japanese-style charm, along with stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
