Entering its seventh year, New Taipei Christmasland opens on the 24th of this month. This year features Taiwan’s largest light sculpture main display, with a circus theme, and includes three major themed light zones. The event will run for 39 consecutive days, immersing the public in a glamorous and romantic Christmas atmosphere right through to 2018. Following past tradition, New Taipei Christmasland will bring substantial business opportunities to Banqiao. According to statistics from the New Taipei City Government, the Christmasland event last year, which lasted one and a half months, attracted over 4.3 million visitors and generated nearly NT$3 billion in business. This year’s Christmasland promises to surpass previous editions, and the dining establishments near the venue are certainly not missing out on this golden opportunity.

MEGA 50, the tallest building in New Taipei, is launching the “New Taipei Year-End Feast” during the event period. The so-called New Taipei Year-End Feast is a collection of local specialty ingredients from New Taipei, interpreted through various cooking techniques. For example, at the 48th-floor Moon View Restaurant, Cantonese-style dishes such as Gongliao Abalone Seafood Pot, Tieguanyin-smoked Freshwater White Pomfret, and Organic Kai-lan with UkUk Dried Squid from Ruifang are served. Meanwhile, the 49th-floor Asia 49 Asian Cuisine & Lounge offers festive signature cocktails with a red Christmas theme to celebrate the season with fine wines. The buffet restaurant on the top floor also adds seasonal specials, including Oven-baked Risotto with New Taipei Squid Rolls, Passion Fruit Vinegar-marinated Gongliao Pearl Abalone, New Taipei Yam Braised Black-Bone Chicken Soup, and Honey-glazed Jinshan Sweet Potatoes. These three restaurants collaborate to offer their own highlights, allowing visitors to the Christmasland celebrations to enjoy both visual delights and culinary treats.

MEGA 50 enjoys a prime location. After enjoying a satisfying meal, you can step out onto the outdoor terrace and gaze down at the full panorama of New Taipei Christmasland from high above, with vibrant colors stretching as far as the eye can see and dazzling lights beneath your feet. In addition to admiring the Christmasland spectacle from above, you can also take in the complete night view of Greater Taipei. What could be happier than combining breathtaking scenery with delicious food?
