The world-famous Thames River in England, a long and magnificent waterway winding through cities, boasts breathtaking scenery. Taiwan also has a similarly stunning canal landscape. Located in Xiangshan District, Hsinchu, the Gangnan Coastal Scenic Area features a section called the Gangnan Canal, which flows from Gangnan to Jincheng Lake. The scenic views along the way are picturesque, and visitors—day or night—can admire the dazzling light displays on both sides of the canal while enjoying the refreshing sea breeze.

Originally a seaside bathing beach, the Gangnan Coastal Scenic Area has transformed into a multifunctional recreational space following the closure of the bathing beach. The Gangnan Canal runs north to south through the scenic area, bordered on the east by various facilities within the park and on the west by a cycling path along the sightseeing belt. Four Chinese-style arched bridges span the canal, adding an elegant charm to its landscape. Additionally, visitors can enjoy distant views of the Hsinchu City Environmental Protection Bureau building and the coastal seascape. Thanks to its well-developed facilities, this spot within the Eight Coastal Scenic Views is the most ideal for hosting various group activities.
