The latest fantasy work by Oscar-nominated director Virgil Widrich — *A Thousand Hours* — is another hilarious underworld comedy following [*What We Do in the Shadows*]. The main roles are played by Laurence Rupp and Amira Casar, and it will be released in Taiwan on April 28.

The story follows the philandering young man Zhiming (Herman), who secretly carries on an affair with his mistress Yanhong (Gertrude). His wife, Chunjiao (Renate), has just given birth to their baby daughter Mingzhu (Erika), when… she dies. Yanhong takes her place as the matriarch of the Lin family. Years later, the descendants of Yanhong and Chunjiao are locked in a battle over the family inheritance.

One day, Mingzhu finally agrees to sign an agreement, but just as things seem to settle, her son Wenyang (John) arrives just in time — only for Mingzhu to suddenly drop dead. When the police arrive at the Lin residence, Mingzhu’s deceased mother is found alive and well at the scene. Even more strangely, all the ancestors of the Lin family have returned from the dead.

Yanhong and Chunjiao, who have been dead for years, spend the night fighting over who is the true matriarch of the Lin family, while the late family patriarch Zhiming never shows up. Wenyang begins to suspect that his grandfather’s death wasn’t so simple after all and asks the police to investigate. Is it the lure of money, the entanglement of fate, or the complications of love that planted the seeds of murder...?
