Amid constantly shifting climates, swelling populations, and rising urban density, the consequences include not only skyrocketing real estate prices but also deteriorating quality of life and environmental conditions. In the face of such challenges, Clouds Architecture Office (CAO) from the United States has put forward a daring and radical concept—a skyscraper that descends from space to Earth. CAO has named this structure the Analemma Tower. Upon completion, the tower’s movement will trace an analemma’s figure-eight path across the sky, allowing its residents to witness the entire globe in the span of a single day.

The base of the skyscraper will be suspended from an orbiting asteroid, connected to the structure via sturdy cables, descending from outer space to Earth with its foundation hovering 32 kilometers above the ground. The building will be powered by solar energy and obtain water resources from clouds and rain. Its construction materials will be highly durable, lightweight, and resilient—such as carbon fiber and aluminum. From caves to today’s high-rises, buildings have grown taller and lighter. The designers believe that one day, structures will detach entirely from the Earth’s surface, avoiding natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, and tsunamis.
