The newly painted breeze-lined canal features stunning 3D fantasy landscapes that are truly eye-catching

Following the initiation of the dyke-step painting project in 2014, the New Taipei City Government has continued to deliver a series of surprising visual feasts along the waterside dyke steps around the Erchong Floodway. The painted themes are rich and varied, providing visitors with a diverse and spectacular leisure and recreational experience.

This year, to ensure the dyke step paintings continue to showcase vibrant colors and artistic beauty, in addition to renewing and restoring those steps that had faded, developed water stains, moss, or discoloration due to wind and rain, the city also adopted the theme “3D Fantasy Realm.” Combining local characteristics, four viewing platform staircases and three smaller staircases were given a fresh new look. This offers visitors a magical space full of wonder and imagination, as well as a more comfortable and expansive visual experience.

The annual International Prayer Lantern Festival held near Chenglu Bridge attracts large numbers of visitors. The viewing platform staircase here is themed “Prayer Lantern Blessings,” depicting a lively prayer lantern ceremony. In addition to continuing the blessings for residents, it also allows visitors who couldn’t attend to feel the solemn and respectful atmosphere.

The other three viewing platform staircases are respectively themed “Secret Garden,” “Where Did the Elephants Go?” and “Fantasy Forest,” while the smaller staircases feature “Legend of the Fairyland,” “Dinosaurs on the Loose,” and “New Paradise.” This round of staircase paintings uses the “3D Fantasy Series” combined with visual painting techniques, allowing visitors to fully unleash their imagination and take fun, creative photos full of charm.
