Light sculpture projection shows have become a global trend, with iconic venues such as the Sydney Opera House, Prague’s Light Festival, and even New Taipei City’s Christmas Town and the Taipei 101 New Year’s Eve fireworks all using 3D light art to create magical cities. To promote local tourism and culture, the Taichung Light & Shadow Art Festival—now in its fourth year—has specially created stunning 3D light sculpture shows and light theater this year (2017), offering unforgettable memories at the century-old Taichung Railway Station.

The century-old Taichung Railway Station officially retired in October 2016. To give everyone a chance to express their fond farewell to the station, the 2017 Taichung Light & Shadow Art Festival has created interactive projection installations that bring the historic site back to life at night. Past highlights of Taichung include the picturesque Lake Heart Pavilion in the Century Park and the culturally rich National Taichung Theater, both of which left lasting impressions on visitors. This year’s performance promises to be unprecedented, lighting up the entire city and its historic landmarks.
