A train journey costing hundreds of thousands is beyond imagination in terms of luxury and refinement. Amid fierce competition among Japan’s railway routes, JR took a different approach by creating the Train Suite Shiki-shima. Launched on May 1st, JR East's luxury sleeper train, the Shiki-shima, features not only panoramic observation cars with unobstructed views but also exquisitely designed interiors, delicious seasonal cuisine, and luxurious bedrooms equipped with cedar bathtubs and hot springs. The cost for a 4-day, 3-night luxury journey can reach up to 950,000 Japanese yen. Tickets are currently in such high demand that they are sold out through March of next year — it’s extremely popular.
