Recently, Instagram has been swept up in a ruins photography trend. Abandoned train stations, churches, amusement parks—you name it. With the right angle of light, proper shooting techniques, and post-editing, the resulting images can be incredibly artistic and have gone viral online. Located in the Changhua area is an abandoned large textile factory called Qiaofang, once the largest such facility in central Taiwan, built with a billion NT investment in the 1990s. However, due to alleged wastewater discharge that polluted the nearby estuary ecosystem, it drew strong complaints from local fishermen and oyster farmers. After years of shutdowns and restarts, the factory has now been abandoned.
