Food trucks spark conversations and draw crowds – Tainan’s Nuofu Sticky Rice Cake is a must-try hit

“Everyone has a flavor in their heart they just can’t let go of.” In recent years, a young man in Tainan has been appearing in streets and alleys riding an old-fashioned bicycle loaded with a bucket of sticky rice cake. A flag on the bike reads “Nuofu,” and through online self-promotion, he aims to carry on the traditional sticky rice cake recipe made by his grandmother.

Nuofu Sticky Rice Cake was created by Liu Yuqiao from Tainan, who rides his grandfather’s nearly 60-year-old vintage bicycle, carrying delicious sticky rice cakes full of traditional memories, living as a wandering vendor. The Nuofu Sticky Rice Cake, which often sells out within minutes, is available not only from the mobile stall but also via online home delivery, allowing more people in Taiwan to enjoy the Tainan-style sticky rice cake that tastes like grandma used to make.
