Majestic depth scenes and green tunnels woven through woods are common backdrops for photography enthusiasts, but pumpkin tunnels suspended overhead are seasonal and rare. In addition to those in Tamsui and Miaoli, there are three other spots across Taiwan where you can admire fruit tunnels. Unlike ordinary tree-lined tunnels, these feature pumpkins in various colors—orange-yellow, black, white, gray-green, and brick-red—creating a vibrant rainbow pumpkin tunnel that often leaves passersby in awe, prompting them to stop and take photos.

Tamsui Pumpkin Tunnel
 
Next to Bridge No. 10 in Tunsanli, Tamsui District, there are five pumpkin tunnels, each about 30 meters long—the only ones in the Greater Taipei area. Unlike ordinary tree-lined tunnels, the landowner planted 0.5 hectares of pumpkins in various colors—orange-yellow, black, white, gray-green, and brick-red—to offer a unique visual experience.

Transportation: Located in front of Bridge No. 10 on Section 5 of Tanjin Highway heading toward Tamsui. For those taking the bus from Tamsui, get off at Tunsan Elementary School stop, then walk about 100 meters toward Tamsui. Drivers should park on the roadside and pay attention to traffic safety. Miaoli Zaobridge Pumpkin Tunnel
 
The “2017 Longfeng Golden Melon Art Festival” in Zaobridge Township, Miaoli County, kicked off with a bang on June 4th by Longfeng Lake near the Dashan Interchange. The event featured local small-scale farmers setting up stalls to sell various pumpkins and local agricultural specialties, showcasing the unique charm of Zaobridge. The community also created a roughly 250-meter-long golden melon tunnel by Longfeng Lake, planting a variety of uniquely shaped pumpkins, inviting visitors to taste golden melons and enjoy the lake view.

2017 Longfeng Golden Melon Art Festival
Location: Zaobridge Township, Miaoli County
Transportation:
1. From the south, exit at Toufen Interchange, follow Provincial Highway No. 1 toward Tongxiao for about 11.6 km to reach Longfeng Lake. You can drive around the entire area via the lakeside road. The distance from the interchange to the lake is about 12.7 km.
2. From the north, exit at Miaoli Interchange, follow Provincial Highway No. 6 past Miaoli, then continue on to reach Longfeng Lake. The distance from the interchange to the lake is about 15.6 km.

Yilan Wangshan Leisure Farm
 
Known as the “Pumpkin Kingdom,” Wangshan Leisure Farm primarily grows a wide variety of Cucurbitaceae plants from all five continents—over 300 varieties—including Eastern pumpkin, Western pumpkin, American pumpkin, Black-seeded gourd, and ornamental pumpkins. Due to the seasonality of the fruits, many other types such as flat squash, winter melon, and loofah are planted in different seasons. The surprise-filled fruit tunnels always attract many visitors to stop and admire.
