Fans of Studio Ghibli, take note: not only is Hayao Miyazaki gearing up to return to creating new animations, but the world-famous animation studio behind his films has just announced plans to team up with Aichi Prefecture to build a Studio Ghibli theme park, set to be completed in 2020.

The Studio Ghibli-themed theme park will be located in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, covering an area of approximately 200 hectares. It is scheduled to be completed on the eve of the Tokyo Olympics and will recreate iconic scenes from famous animations, bringing their unique worlds to life. Recently, a Japanese designer named TAKUMI created a concept image of the park, which has received widespread acclaim from Japanese netizens. The Studio Ghibli team also stated that tree felling will be avoided during construction, in line with the environmental and nature-focused values emphasized in the movie My Neighbor Totoro.
