Tropical Storm Nesat, a mild typhoon, was issued a land warning by the Central Weather Bureau at 14:30 on the 28th. The storm’s circulation has entered the Bashi Channel, located to the south-southeast of Hualien over the sea, and is approaching the eastern half of Taiwan. The typhoon is expected to slightly intensify, with a tendency for the storm circulation to expand slightly. Regions including Hualien, Taitung (including Orchid Island and Green Island), Kaohsiung, Pingtung (including Hengchun Peninsula), Tainan, Chiayi, and Nantou should remain on high alert and guard against strong winds and heavy rain.
Coinciding with the weekend, many popular summer activities across Taiwan have been canceled or postponed. Travelers are urged to check local weather conditions and event updates before heading out, and are advised to stay indoors and avoid outdoor activities.

The “2017 Taipei Riverside Music Festival” series of events, originally scheduled for this Saturday (7/29) afternoon at the Guandu Zhonggang River Pier, have been canceled due to Typhoon Nesat. The safety of participants is the priority, and the event will be rescheduled for a later date.

The public art exhibition “When Danhai Light Rail Meets Jimmy” held inside the Xindian Red Forest MRT Station has suspended its weekend stamp-card gift activities originally planned for July 29 and 30.

Due to Typhoon Nesat, Dongshi Fishing Port, Budai Yacht Harbor, and the Skywalk at Zhushan Park are temporarily closed and entry is prohibited.
The Tainan County Environmental Protection Bureau had originally planned to hold the “Tainan Low-Carbon Countryside Market” on July 29 (Saturday), but due to the maritime typhoon warning issued by the Central Weather Bureau, this month’s market event has been canceled for safety reasons.
