International Harvest Festival Lights – A Two-Day, One-Night Tour of Hualien Wonders

Every summer from July to August, the grand Harvest Festivals of various tribes in Hualien begin one after another. The unique culture of Taiwan’s indigenous peoples has always been a major draw for foreign tourists. In addition to traditional ceremonies and tribal culture, the natural wonders of eastern Taiwan are also an unmissable highlight of any trip. Below is a recommended two-day itinerary covering the areas of Guangfu, Shoufeng, and Fengbin in Hualien, featuring breathtaking scenery, local festivals, and creative cuisine. Travelers can use this as a reference and adjust it according to their own needs to plan their own in-depth journey through Hualien.

Creative à la carte cuisine crafted by a couple from the Amis tribe, located not far from the city in a mountainous suburb. The restaurant design incorporates local Taiwanese tin-roof elements along with modern rustic wooden decor, making it stand out brilliantly amidst the forested hills.

As it is an à la carte restaurant, each dish and course is specially designed. From appetizers to main courses and desserts, the flavorful transitions between dishes are astounding, making it hard to imagine such refined cuisine comes from a remote tribal setting.

Lasoay Spring Ecological Park
Once voted one of the most beautiful hidden gems, Lasoay Spring is a natural paradise where spring water mingles with wild streams in breathtaking scenery, completely untouched by artificial concrete. The first spring, with its indigo-blue waters known as the “Blue Tears,” shaped like a heart, is famed for its stunning color — many visitors say it's a hue only God could create.

Xinshe Terraced Fields
Located in Fengbin Township, Xinshe Terraced Fields are the largest forest-sea terraced fields in Taiwan. Usually a vast expanse of lush green rice paddies, they transform into a sea of light golden rice during summertime.
