Ancient village becomes new IG highlight – Tainan Art Village resembles a landscape painting

Tainan, an ancient city rich in history and culture, is one of the favorite destinations for travelers who love a nostalgic atmosphere. Located in Xuejia District, the Lao Tanghu Art Village exudes the simple yet elegant rural charm of the 1950s, blending retro red-brick buildings, Minnan-style architecture, and elements resembling the grasslands beyond the Great Wall. The well-known TV drama "Spring Flower" was also filmed here, turning this traditional art village into a popular Instagram-worthy spot.

Every brick, tile, plant, and tree in Lao Tanghu Art Village was personally built by abstract painter "Kuang Yi." Covering an area of about 3 hectares, Kuang Yi spent over 10 years collecting old building materials from demolished traditional houses to construct this art village that embodies the style of the early Republican era.

The eccentric finger-style abstract artist infused his artistic essence into the vintage pavilions and towers, complemented by the scenic beauty of the pond outside, creating a scene that feels like stepping into a time tunnel — the view is so breathtaking it’s hard to leave.
