Nowadays, many people traveling to Japan think of bringing back a box of the wildly popular Tokyo Banana to enjoy. Whether for personal indulgence or as a gift, it’s considered a classy choice. But besides the original Tokyo Banana design, many patterns corresponding to different flavors are printed on the cakes, and these unique designs have sparked a collecting trend among netizens.

Leopard Print – Chocolate Cocoa Flavor

The banana cake mixed with a leopard print pattern is a new flavor launched by Tokyo Banana at Tokyo Tree, and it also seems to be the most common design. The filling is chocolate custard sauce, combining the taste of banana with the richness of chocolate for a unique and delicious experience — a favorite souvenir among travelers.

Heart Pattern – Original Banana Flavor

The heart-patterned Tokyo Banana was introduced in 2015 as a limited-edition design available exclusively at Tokyo Skytree. Although it has the same flavor as the regular original Tokyo Banana, its visual appeal offers a different experience — a lovely, romantic vibe seemingly conveyed through the hearts.

Tabby Cat Pattern – Caramel Flavor

The tabby cat-patterned Tokyo Banana cake was created to celebrate the reconstruction and completion of Tokyo Station’s Marunouchi Building, launching a new “caramel flavor” initially sold at Tokyo Station. The cute cat pattern, along with a corner design featuring a puffed-up kitty, is absolutely adorable.

Giraffe Pattern – Banana Pudding Flavor

The giraffe-patterned Tokyo Banana was released in 2012, featuring a filling of caramel-flavored banana pudding. It’s the perfect choice for travelers looking to try an alternative banana flavor. This edition was first sold at Tokyo Haneda Airport’s domestic terminals 1 and 2, as well as at Tokyo Daimaru Department Store.
