Taiwan’s Version of Venice Beach: Shell-white Sands Rivaling World-Class Beauty

Taiwan boasts abundant coastal erosion landscapes and stunning beaches. Beyond the Yilan, Hualien, and Taitung coastlines, Little Liuqiu in Pingtung also features beautiful sands comparable to those of Hawaii. Hannban Bay Beach is the largest accumulative sandy shore on Liuqiu Island, and it's quite rare among the predominantly coral rocky coasts—classified as a shell sand beach, with a shoreline stretching about 100 meters. Its beautiful white sands and blue sea have earned it the nickname “Taiwan’s version of Venice Beach.”

Little Liuqiu is Taiwan’s only coral island, and the beach landscape of Hannban Bay is relatively unique. The shells along the shore, polished over time by seawater, gradually form uniformly sized, pure white, and translucent shell sand. This results in a vast expanse of gleaming white sand, which is the most captivating sight at Hannban Bay Beach.
